Synopsis

Charles, a retired man, finds new life by answering a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation into a nursing home

Michael Schur was inspired to make “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says, “The documentary “The Mole Agent” is powerful because it makes people feel something very similar, regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender, and I would describe that feeling very reductively as “I have to call my mother.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: does our show encourage that feeling of wanting to call our mothers?

A remake of the film El Agent Topo (2020)

I think a lot of fiction is naturally meant to make you think something like, “It was an honor to be part of these fictional characters’ lives.” This show certainly achieves that goal well.

Congratulations to all the departments involved

Even those who come in for a mystery that has made it less focused should be thrilled by the humanity that comes through not only in the writing but also in the performances of all the cast.

While Netflix has been strict about renewing series lately, I hope they realize the potential of this series by giving them a second season, as I look forward to seeing more of this incredible hero’s journey
